New Senior Vice President of Strategy and Implementation

Pacific Blue Cross president and CEO, Jan K. Grude, has announced the appointment of Farzana Adatiya as senior vice president, Strategy and Implementation, effective April 11, 2016. Ms. Adatiya will lead the organization’s strategic operations and overarching mission to better the health and wellbeing of British Columbians.

Ms. Adatiya holds a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University and a graduate degree in Health Administration from the University of Southern California. She spent several years at Anthem Blue Cross – the largest Blue Cross Blue Shield organization in the U.S., with more than 38 million medical members. She held several senior positions, including vice president of Seniors Medicare Strategy and Transformation and vice president of Strategy and Execution for Anthem’s consumer division. Most recently, Ms. Adatiya was principal and senior advisor for a boutique health care consultancy firm, BDC Advisors, where she provided strategic counsel to world-leading academic medical centers, children's hospitals, and health plans.

“Farzana will provide an international lens to our organization which will bring an added perspective to our mission of improving health and wellbeing in British Columbia,” says Grude. “Her level of experience and understanding of large, complex health systems, and how to simplify processes for individual members and plan sponsors, will add considerable depth to our leadership team.” Her appointment also marks six of nine senior executive positions at Pacific Blue Cross being held by women.

Ms. Adatiya lives in North Vancouver with her husband and daughter, and serves on the Canuck Place Gift of Time Committee, and holds a leadership role in the Aga Khan Foundation.
“I am delighted to return home to British Columbia and greatly look forward to using my experience to contribute to the leadership team of Pacific Blue Cross; as it helps to build a sustainable health system that will be there for our families well into the future,” says Adatiya.
