Pacific Blue Cross donates $52,000 to Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division

The Pacific Blue Cross Community Connection Health Foundation recently gave $52,000 to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), B.C. Division.

The funds were raised at the organization’s annual client golf tournament at Vancouver Golf Club. In the past five years, Pacific Blue Cross has raised more than $300,000 for CMHA.
Funds will support the CMHA Bottom Line Conference. The national conference brings together business leaders, policy-makers, researchers and workers to improve mental wellness in Canadian workplaces.

Funds will also focus on improving access to appropriate mental health care for children, youth and adults. The BC Division of CMHA works with the BC Government on behalf of British Columbians living with mental illness for:
  1. access to appropriate health care for mental illness equal to that for other serious health issues.
  2. high quality treatment and support for addiction.
  3. increases to the provincial Persons with Disability (PWD) benefit that are in line with BC’s rising cost of living, so that persons receiving the benefit can afford basic necessities.
  4. access to safe and secure housing for British Columbians with mental illness and addiction.

The Pacific Blue Cross Community Connection Health Foundation offers financial assistance to organizations that promote mental health and strive to prevent chronic disease. Interested organizations can apply here.
