Work environment has a significant impact on physical, emotional and mental health. Find out how Pacific Blue Cross can support you to keep your teams healthy and productive at work.
Pacific Blue Cross has partnerships with various health care providers, to enhance and support the overall health and wellbeing of your plan members.
Our Health and Wellness team would be happy to discuss any of the programs and services outlined below, as they play key roles in addressing health from a holistic perspective.
A majority of British Columbians find it difficult to access a health care provider. Telus Health Virtual Care provides 24/7 on-demand or by-appointment access to licensed health care professionals. The platform is fully integrated into the provincial and federal health care system, allowing direct billing to MSP. Ensure your employees receive care as soon as they need it.
Nationally, influenza has been estimated to cause approximately 12,200 hospitalizations annually. We can help connect you with one of our Preferred Pharmacy Network providers to schedule a workplace flu and vaccine clinic to protect your employees’ health. Prices are set by the individual pharmacy, who can coordinate online scheduling and on-site clinics for your employees.
Onsite health clinics are also a cost-effective preventative strategy, offering immediate, comprehensive health screening and programming. These can lead to reduced health care costs and potentially prevent chronic diseases. Our Health and Wellness team would be happy to connect you to one of our Preferred Pharmacy Network providers who can discuss which biometric clinic would be most beneficial for your workplace. These health clinics are customizable and can address:
All Pacific Blue Cross members have free access to Health Connected, a suite of digital wellness tools. Some of these tools include:
Mental health issues are a leading driver of disability costs and can have disruptive impacts to operations. Pacific Blue Cross is proud to be the first health insurance carrier in Canada to offer mental health first aid training. This two-day course is great for people leaders at all levels and helps to identify when a person may be struggling, while reducing stigma around mental health.
CBT is a structured, goal-oriented form of psychological therapy. CBT helps to change negative thoughts and behaviours by learning skills to react and respond to individual situations. CBT can be used to address anxiety, depression, substance use and insomnia to better manage the stress of day-to-day life. Specialized online CBT (iCBT) programs through TELUS Health and Mind Beacon allow the flexibility of accessing treatment from the comfort of home and are reimbursed under Pacific Blue Cross EHC plans with Counselling Services coverage, up to the plan’s annual maximum (subject to existing co-pay and deductibles on the plan). If you are unsure of your plan’s benefit coverage, please reach out to your Account Executive for more details.
EFAP offers individual counselling, coaching, information and support for all of life’s challenges. Employees and their dependents can access the supportive and confidential service in person, over the phone or online. EFAP can help with many personal challenges including relationship concerns, family issues, workplace stress or conflict, and financial or legal difficulties.
In addition to creating a healthy and safe work environment, Pacific Blue Cross recognizes the impact that leaders can have on employees’ wellbeing. We are pleased to offer free webinars such as Leading in Sickness and In Health. Part one of this webinar covers disability management basics for leaders, while part two addresses influencing a culture of health at work. These webinars are geared towards leaders in the workplace to help you influence productivity and success, and most are available at no charge to existing plan sponsors.
