Extended Health Providers: Important Update for Telehealth Service CoverageWednesday, Oct 14, 2020
Select telehealth service coverage extended.
Earlier this year, in response to the onset of COVID-19, Pacific Blue Cross put temporary measures in place to expand our telehealth benefits coverage for select services.
These changes have proven to work well for both provider and client, and we have decided to officially extend this service option indefinitely for select provider services.
Extended telehealth coverage applies to eligible claims from the following service provider types:
- Registered counselling services
- Clinical psychology
- Speech therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Dietician services
New service codes for easier claiming
As of October 8th, we have implemented new service codes to be used specifically for telehealth claims. These new codes are found in the “type of expense” drop-down options when making claims through PROVIDERnet. This replaces the current process of indicating “telehealth” in the “Nature of Illness” field as you enter your claim.
Important reminders regarding telehealth services:
- Telehealth services covered by Pacific Blue Cross must meet all regulations as outlined by each provider type’s respective professional college.
- Any benefit coverage maximums are a combination of both telehealth and in-person visits.
- All receipts issued to member must include “telehealth” for applicable services.
