Pacific Blue Cross Donates 1,000 N95 Masks to Protect BC Frontline Healthcare Workers

Thursday, Apr 23, 2020

As the province’s number one health benefits provider, we are continuously looking for ways to assist our fellow British Columbians during this challenging time. As part of this effort, we’re proud to have recently donated 1,000 N95 masks to SafeCare BC for use by frontline healthcare workers.

This contribution to BC's personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies was made following an urgent call for donations across the Lower Mainland by Operation Protect, a joint initiative between SafeCare BC and the BC Ministry of Health.

The program aims to assess, collect, and distribute PPE donations across the province to frontline healthcare workers. As BC and Canada's healthcare systems respond to the ongoing threat of COVID-19, the demand for PPE continues to grow exponentially as the pandemic evolves.

Pacific Blue Cross responded to this call to action to protect BC's frontline workers, as they provide essential healthcare services across the province during this crisis.

"During these unprecedented and challenging times, our healthcare providers are working tirelessly every moment of every day to protect and save the lives of British Columbians. They are placing the health of our communities above all else, and I would like to sincerely thank them for their compassion, dedication and hard work," said John Crawford, President & CEO, Pacific Blue Cross.

"I believe it is the responsibility of businesses to step up and offer suitable and available PPE equipment, where possible, to ensure those who most need it, will remain safe and protected in the coming months. No donation is too small, and we would encourage others to join us in contributing to this important public health initiative."
