The Foundation marks 15 years with $100,000 for five health organizations in BC, including $50,000 directed by Pacific Blue Cross members through Share the Care.

The Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation is marking 15 years of supporting healthier communities with a $100,000 investment across five organizations working to improve health and wellbeing across British Columbia.

Through Share the Care, each participating organization will receive $10,000 in guaranteed funding to start, with Pacific Blue Cross members voting to decide how an additional $50,000 is shared. From November 3 to 24, members can learn about the five organizations and vote once each day for the work they most want to support.

Pacific Blue Cross provides health benefits coverage to 1 in 3 British Columbians, giving Share the Care a broad platform to raise awareness of the organizations and community health needs being supported.

The five organizations are addressing a range of health and wellbeing needs across the province – from safe housing for young mothers and their children and spaces where rural youth can connect, to Indigenous approaches to wellness, greater independence for neurodivergent people and mental health education for students.

Since 2011, the Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation has provided more than $6 million in funding to more than 350 organizations across British Columbia, supporting programs that improve health and wellbeing in communities across the province.

“For 15 years, we’ve stood alongside people doing important work to strengthen health and wellbeing in communities across BC. I’m proud of what we’ve built together, and proud that Share the Care gives our members a chance to learn more about these organizations and help shape where additional support goes,” said Janet Andrews, Chair of the Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation Board.

Supporting community health across BC

The five Share the Care partners represent a diverse range of health and wellbeing needs:

Aunt Leah’s — Funding will support the Thresholds Supportive Housing Program, helping young mothers and their children build greater stability and remain together.

Carrier Sekani Family Services — Support will help bring the new Foundry Vanderhoof Centre’s multipurpose community space to life, creating a place for young people in Northern BC to connect, build friendships and access support.

Northern Nations Wellness Centre (Mîýomâcihêwi Kamik) — Funding will help establish a Traditional Medicine and Teaching Space that makes Indigenous ways of knowing and healing a more visible and accessible part of care.

Pacific Autism Family Network — Support will go toward Learn4Independence and Go Group Employment programs, helping Autistic and neurodivergent people build skills, confidence, friendships and greater independence.

Stigma-Free Mental Health Society — Funding will support Young Minds Matter, an initiative aiming to bring mental health education and practical coping tools to 10,000 students in Grades 4–12, particularly in rural and underserved communities.

All five organizations have previously received support from the Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation. Share the Care builds on those relationships by directing new funding toward programs and services addressing current community needs.
