With support from the Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation, Diabetes Canada’s Lace Up to End Diabetes campaign is now running for the month of September

Diabetes Canada’s Lace Up to End Diabetes campaign successfully launched on September 1st and will run for the entire month of September.

The Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation is supporting this year’s campaign to help the millions of Canadians living with diabetes or prediabetes. Diabetes or prediabetes affects 1 in 3 people across Canada, and 1 in 2 young adults will develop type 2 diabetes in their lifetime. Programs like Lace Up to End Diabetes helped Diabetes Canada invest more than $5.1 million in life-saving research and support services last year alone.

About Lace up to End Diabetes

Lace Up to End Diabetes challenges participants to do 10k your way. Whether you walk, run, ride, or dance your kilometers, all participants are coming together to achieve a common goal: raising awareness and funds to end diabetes.

Every dollar raised through Lace Up to End Diabetes helps fund diabetes research and support services offered by Diabetes Canada. Diabetes Canada support services in 2020 alone included:

  • Providing vital support: 23,610 people accessed support through 1-800-BANTING, Diabetes Canada’s information services.
  • Supporting healthcare providers: 307,000 unique visitors accessed our world-class Clinical Practice Guidelines online.
  • Advocating for access to life-changing devices: 18,500 letters were sent to elected officials calling for coverage of Flash and Continuous Glucose Monitoring devices.
  • Keeping youth connected: 430+ children and youth with type 1 diabetes and their families attended Dose of D-Camps online.
