Partnering to improve health and wellbeing

Pacific Blue Cross has partnered with BC Women’s Health Foundation to create awareness of the gaps that exist in women’s health care. Given over 50% of the population in BC are women and they make up a similar percentage of BC’s workforce, we are finding new solutions.

Uncovering healthcare realities for women in BC

In the fall of 2019, in partnership with Pacific Blue Cross, the BC Women’s Health Foundation released In Her Words, a report and accompanying stories that uncovered the stark realities of how women of all ages, ethnicities, and socioeconomic groups interact with the healthcare system in BC.

In Her Words provided not only critically important baseline data, but served as a catalyst for change throughout the healthcare system. As BCWHF’s Pillar Partner, the findings inspired us to develop a gender-focus to our insurance products that recognizes the unique needs of women. It also shaped the focus for the Pacific Blue Cross Women’s Health Care Forum in October 2019 put on by the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. Bringing together healthcare experts with business leaders provided a crucial opportunity for dialogue on the realities of the gender health gap, and multi-dimensional solutions to address these inequities in organizations.
