Pacific Blue Cross Blue Chip plans now include 24/7 on-demand virtual health services during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

COVID-19 (coronavirus) has brought many changes to daily life, including how we access health care. That’s why Pacific Blue Cross Blue Chip plans now include 24/7 on-demand virtual health services during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

The coverage includes access to a care manager, physicians, referrals to specialists and mental health professionals, with prescription medications delivered to your door, all from the palm of one's hand. It’s how we bring health care home.

As BC's health benefits society and market leader in extended health plans—and in line with our mission to improve health and wellbeing for British Columbians — we are pleased to offer this new virtual care service at no additional cost.



What plan members will have access to

Our Virtual Care offers our members a new way of caring for their health:

  • Confidential on-demand access to a care manager and doctor through a mobile device, tablet or computer, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from wherever they are.
  • BC-licensed Physicians.
  • Patient referrals to specialists and mental health professionals.
  • Assistance with prescription renewals and home deliveries from their pharmacy of choice (including our Preferred Pharmacy Network) as well as lab requisitions and coordinating specialist visits.

How plan members set up their accounts

Plan members will be directed to the Virtual Care for Blue Chip plans page on our website via an email or through their Member Profile to get a special code to register for the service. 

We believe that by increasing access to—and usage of—quality health care through virtual care in today’s environment, it will become an integral part of our future health care system. And, as BC’s health benefits society, we know this will go a long way toward improving overall health outcomes for British Columbians.

Virtual Care comes in addition to the range of digital, virtual, and telehealth care from the Pacific Blue Cross provider network. For employees, it offers convenient access to a virtual health care ecosystem at their fingertips, reducing time away from work and family. For employers, virtual care also helps reduce absenteeism while improving employee engagement and wellbeing.
