What is a dependent?

A dependent is defined as a person living with you, to whom you or your spouse are a natural parent or legal parent or legal ward (but not a foster parent) and depends on you or your spouse for financial support, who is not married, and who is
  • under 21 years of age or;
  • physically or mentally handicapped
