Besides the great people I work with, I believe my positive attitude and willingness to do my job to the best of my ability makes working here that much more enjoyable. Personal satisfaction depends a lot on how you approach things in life and I take pride in meeting and exceeding expectations. In addition to my job, I get involved with various committees like Health and Wellness, our Green Team and Pacific Blue Cross' Recognition Program. The day goes by so fast, because I like what I do. I am happy with what I have achieved at the end of each day and I feel like I make a difference.

I always try to see things from the member's perspective. When we are resolving an issue or building a new service, we have to keep the member in mind. We can't forget our members are not as familiar with insurance and health benefits as we are who work with it everyday. That's why I'm committed to improving the customer's experience. We collect many great comments through customer feedback. They tell us what they think will make things easier or better for them. One of my goals is to put their voices into action and make the changes they are asking for. We do a great job at Pacific Blue Cross, but we can always do better.
When we work on improvements to the customer's experience, so many departments contribute to that. I can't do it by myself and I rely on others to work with me and help me. When we keep our commitments to each other, it means the biggest winner at the end of the day is our customer. One of the best things about my job is that I get to be involved in finding solutions that make things better for our clients, plan members and our employees. With a lot of the stuff I work on, I can see the before and after picture so I can see the difference we make.

Since joining Pacific Blue Cross in 2007 as a Programmer/Analyst, I've been one of many people working on upgrading our technologies. One of the best things about the job is learning about new IT concepts and methods almost every day. Learning for me is about being challenged and continually growing. I find I work better learning from, and being challenged by others. I work with truly excellent people and I value the trust my co-workers have in me to do my job and keep the commitments I make. In return, I improve the working relationship I have with them.

I love customer service! I really enjoy assisting our members with their issues and like making people feel good. Providing people with the best service they've ever had has always been a goal of mine. I joined Pacific Blue Cross in 2003 and have made a career for myself here. I love the camaraderie, support, and fun of being part of this team. The advice I would give to future and fellow employees is to have fun, do the best you can, and always try to grow as a person: personally and professionally. Most importantly, always listen, always empathize; our members are counting on you to help them.

Woody Allen said, "90% of life is showing up." Keeping commitments takes effort and shows respect for my co-workers and our members. I feel pretty confident in my ability to keep commitments, but I also have the desire to do so. I take pride in a job well done and I want to provide the best service I can: as accurate and timely as possible, with as few errors as possible. I continually strive to do the best I can do.
The people make a great deal of difference here. There is a lot of employee engagement in fun activities compared to other places I have worked. This has been one of my favourite things about working for Pacific Blue Cross. For example, I am very committed to sustainability initiatives and a member of the company's Green Team. I have made personal and professional changes, such as taking transit and cycling to work, volunteering for the electronics recycling initiative, taking an active role in suggesting, researching or implementing other "green" initiatives and events at Pacific Blue Cross. I also take this knowledge home with me, which has resulted in a significant reduction in my household consumption/disposal waste.
